BARBADOS, 13 August, 2022 - Upturn Funds Caribbean announces partnership with renowned geologist and global mining expert Emily King, CEO of Global Venture Consulting. Founder of Prospector an AI-enabled technology platform built to modernize the way investors and researchers search for and access information about mining. Ms. King is a professional geologist specializes in building and leading multi-disciplinary teams to achieve clients' high-priority objectives. Her organization focuses on finding and developing the natural resources of the world including 10 African nations where she has completed contracts to identify major deposits and map where they are in the land and seas. This will be replicated across the Caribbean, making the region aware of where the deposits are.
Emily believes that technology, innovation, and relationships are all equally important to bringing new capital into the mining industry and transforming the role of mining. She has created the industry's first searchable digital database with an easily navigable interface that allows anyone to tap into information about the mining industry. She has explored 15 mineral deposits throughout Afghanistan, promoting and tendering four early-stage copper and gold deposits in partnership with the Afghanistan Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Afghanistan Geological Survey, and the U.S. Geological Survey. Speaking on the partnership, Ambassador Dr. Andre Thomas said, “I am convinced that with this mining initiative more Caribbean people will participate in the wealth creation the mining industry brings”.
Emily was awarded the Medal of Merit by American Mining Hall of Fame and for her service in the Department of Defense received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, Global War on Terrorism Award, and Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award. She has a degree in geology and government and legal studies from Bowdoin College, where she was recently visiting lecturer for the department of earth and oceanographic studies. King holds leadership positions in industry organizations and at the board level, including the advisory board member of the Afghanistan Mining Think Tank, vice president of the board for Women in Mining USA, and board member of VVC Exploration.
Emily will be presenting on the topic: How Artificial Intelligence Can Help to Find and Fund Mining Projects in the Caribbean at the Upturn Funds Caribbean Investment Summit 2022 on Day 2 of the Summit at the Hilton Barbados Resort August 25 -27.
